MY STORY
In the year 1998, the then chief minister of United Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu visited our hometown, Suryapet, for a public meeting. Our neighbors, who had just passed by the meeting, told us that Mr.Babu had arrived in a helicopter. I begged my father to take me there, but by the time we got there, the helicopter had already flown away.
I was extremely disappointed, and cried non-stop. To console me, my father told me that he’d take me to Hyderabad and show me the helicopter. I had pestered him every day for the next 15 days before he realized he had to do something about it. So he took me to the house of Suryapet’s MLA Akarapu Sudarshan to find out if there was a way for us to catch a glimpse of the helicopter somehow. Mr. Sudarshan was very kindly but he said it was hard to ascertain anything about the Chief Minister’s helicopter and he asked if there was anything else he could do to make me happy. Right then, the MLA’s driver uncovered a white colored Ford Escort parked in front of the house. It was beautiful. I had never seen a car like that before. I asked the MLA if they could give me a ride in it. He agreed and let his driver take me and my father for a ride around town. It was the most memorable thing of my childhood. I loved that car and have fallen in love with cars ever since. I forgot all about the helicopter, and I promised to one day own a Ford Escort myself. Years later I skipped school and went to work at Ford Hyderabad and Hyundai Hyderabad for over 5 years before buying my first car. They had discontinued Ford Escorts by that time, so I searched all over Hyderabad for a used car and finally bought a white colored Ford Escort in pristine condition. All my friends loved my car, and started asking me to find good used cars for them too.
